Multiple dates from Saturday, December 5th, 2020 to Saturday, December 12th, 2020
Enjoy some family fun time as you explore our museum together and test your detective skills!
About this Event
Join our Curator for a personal family tour of the Essex Police Museum, where you'll learn about policing from the Victorian times through to modern day! To become a certified museum explorer the whole family need to work together to discover the secrets of our special objects and solve the crime in our 1970s crime scene.
Adult-only groups are also welcome! Our Curator will take you on a private guided tour of the museum showing how policing in Essex has developed over time. This includes our temporary exhibition: Force Communications.
Booking and Facilities
The tours are free, although any donations will be gratefully received.
Due to the museum's small size each tour can only accommodate one family and anyone in their social bubble. Therefore only one ticket is available for each tour. This ticket will cover your whole family, not just one person. Please make sure you bring your ticket with you, either a hard copy or digitally, as you will not be able to enter the museum without it.
We've worked hard to safeguard our visitors and staff against the coronavirus, earning our good to go certification mark from Visit England.
Our staff will:
Wear face shields throughout your tour
Clean the museum and children's' explorer kits in between each tour
Lower our minimum card payment to £1 (cash will still be accepted, including donations)
Have a maximum of 6 people from one household/support bubble per tour. This includes babies and children. It is the visitor's responsibility to ensure their group consists of one household/support bubble.
Bring their ticket (digitally is fine!)
Wear a face covering unless exempt
Sanitise their hands on entering and leaving the museum
Cancel if anyone in the group has covid-19 symptoms
Accordingly, we reserve the right to refuse admission to the Museum on the following grounds:
Any visitor who appears to have symptoms of Covid-19
Any visitor who does not keep to our social distancing regulations, even when asked
Any visitor who does not use hand sanitiser on entering the Museum
Any visitor who does not wear a face covering without good reason
